edit: this is a revised piece I completed for an app called my green space, that specializes in growing your own food. I’ll attach the original pages in the post. As you can see, I kept the integrity of the post, however a few changes were made (making the language more personable and persuasive, restructuring sentences, reordering some sentences).

If a kitchen posses only a handful of herbs, basil will likely be one of them. It’s known for being a beautiful, sweet yet pungent herb exuding an earthy aroma that provides plenty of nutrients, including Vitamin K (often used to treat blood clotting).
Furthermore, basil plants are a heat-loving, tender, annual plant that requires good drainage and ample moisture, especially during hot weather.
If flowers happen to bloom, don’t be alarmed! These flowers are like magnets to honeybees and other wild pollinators. So save the resulting seeds or separate them from the plants and sprinkle them over your pasta or salads.
Did you know: Basil also complements and enhances the flavor of tomatoes? Why not plant some tomatoes and give your beautiful Basil plants a companion!
Types of Basil:

Genovese Organic Basil
Genovese Organic Basil is a traditional Italian heirloom variety and is an essential piece for the best Italian Pesto you’ll ever make.
Its shiny, large, almond shaped leaves give rich, distinct flavor and stores well when chopped and frozen in ice cube trays.

Dolly Organic Basil
Dolly Basil is a fast growing and particularly nice Genovese type basil with large, highly aromatic leaves that usually grow up to 10 cm (4″) with minimally serrated margins. They’ll elevate any pasta or salad dishes while providing an element of freshness.
Dolly Organic basil is well suited to container growing and resistant to cool night temperatures, so it’s a better choice than many for coastal gardens.
By pinching the growing tip, you’ll delay the flowering stage which will keep the plant bushy thus, allowing it to produce more leaves.
Once flowers appear, the Dolly basil flavor will be at its peak! So harvest the plant all at once or simply keep picking as needed.

Tulsi Basil
Tulsi Basil is also known as ‘The Holy Basils of India’.
Its complex spicy flavor makes for a soothing and relaxing herbal tea. It has also been a staple in alternative medicine and contains numerous health properties.
